Art After 5

 What:   Diverse jazz and world music artists perform this spring in Art After 5 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Each Friday evening, the Museum’s Great Stair Hall becomes a concert hall, complete with cocktails, elegant café-style appetizers, and desserts. Art After 5 features emerging and established jazz performers, with forays on the first Friday of each month into other musical genres. Between sets visitors have a chance to explore the Museum’s galleries and special exhibitions. On this Friday, Kruno Spisic will play his unique brand of romantic, Eastern European Gypsy jazz.

Cost:   $14 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, $10 for students with ID, free for children 12 and under

What: In its third exhibition of Fleisher Art Memorial's Wind Challenge series, Challenge 3 showcases the work of three talented artists. Johanna Inman will be showing old photographs focusing on disregarded books and highlighting the subtleties of time and decomposition; Yvonne Lung will show a video installation based on stories told to her by Chinese immigrants and Constantina Zavitsanos will be showing unique, engaging sculptures. Gallery hours are 11AM - 5PM.

What: This two part exhibit highlights similar art themes across neighboring cultures. The first part features Korean screen paintings with notable Chinese narratives like General Guo Ziyi’s Banquet and the Hundred Children. These images are presented alongside Chinese ceramics of the Qing dynasty (1616–1912).
