Adventures in Modern Art

 What:   The Philadelphia Museum of Art this summer presents Adventures in Modern Art: The Charles K. Williams II Collection, a major collection of American and European modernist works; includes approximately 100 paintings, sculptures, watercolors, and drawings from the early decades of the 20th century. Several famed artists featured, among them Joseph Stella, Oscar Bluemner, Charles Demuth, and Arthur Dove. On view in the Dorrance Galleries (July 12 - September 13, 2009).

What: This two part exhibit highlights similar art themes across neighboring cultures. The first part features Korean screen paintings with notable Chinese narratives like General Guo Ziyi’s Banquet and the Hundred Children. These images are presented alongside Chinese ceramics of the Qing dynasty (1616–1912).

Kitty Durham (16) is the youngest of the group and primarily sings and plays drums, harmonica, ukulele, banjo, trombone and guitar. Daisy Durham (21) is the eldest of the group, who primarily sings and plays drums, piano, accordion and xylophone. Lewis Durham (19) is the middle child who sings and plays guitar, piano, banjo, lapsteel and drums.
