Adventures in Modern Art

 What:   The Philadelphia Museum of Art this summer presents Adventures in Modern Art: The Charles K. Williams II Collection, a major collection of American and European modernist works; includes approximately 100 paintings, sculptures, watercolors, and drawings from the early decades of the 20th century. Several famed artists featured, among them Joseph Stella, Oscar Bluemner, Charles Demuth, and Arthur Dove. On view in the Dorrance Galleries (July 12 - September 13, 2009).

What:  Still holding down the indie rock at Saddle Creek, this is our tenth show for Cursive! They've been around as ong as us starting off in 95, experimenting with elements of indie rock and eclectic post-hardcore to fashion a unique sound. The lineup has stayed remarkably concsistant for the most part with just founding drummer Clint Schnase leaving the band on this latest album.

What: This two part exhibit highlights similar art themes across neighboring cultures. The first part features Korean screen paintings with notable Chinese narratives like General Guo Ziyi’s Banquet and the Hundred Children. These images are presented alongside Chinese ceramics of the Qing dynasty (1616–1912).
