"Transcending History" - Moving Beyond the Legacy of Slavery and the Holocaust

What:   A fusion of Black and Jewish art exploring the common histories and struggles of these two communities.  Transcending History will highlight the progressive attitudes and resilience of these two communities while visually presenting challenges that they face every day.

What:  Theatre Exile presents the world premiere of Any Given Monday by Bruce Graham, a co-production with Act II Playhouse.  Lenny is not having a good Monday. His wife left him for a jerk, his two least favorite football teams are playing on TV and his daughter is having a crisis of faith. But when his friend has a solution to his marital problems, Lenny has to decide what he is willing to stand up for. When political correctness, religion, class discrimination and social injustice just don’t add up, how can we define right and wrong?

Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking

What: A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talkin, a comedy set in suburban New York, revolves around two housewives – one a picture-perfect ideal matron, the other an ex-cheerleader – as they learn about life, love and their assumptions about each other when they forge an unlikely friendship. This 1980s classic play originally starred Susan Sarandon and Eileen Brennan and is now making its way from Greenwich Village, New York to Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia at the Adrienne Theater.

What: These sound installations, recorded in English and Italian, delve into the rhythmic differences of language as participants simply recite the days of week. Listened to collectively or in isolation, the result is as The New Yorker describes: "the human voice making unintentional music as it evokes the passage of time."

The first part features Korean screen paintings with notable Chinese narratives like General Guo Ziyi’s Banquet and the Hundred Children. RWUL Presents: “I Luv Africa” Film Series

What: The “I Luv Africa” film series, which is  a part of the continuing RWUL “I Luv Africa” documentary film project, will showcase independent films depicting stories about African culture and people including “The Soul of Ashanti” and “Pray the Devil Back to Hell”.The final goal of the film seires is to host panel discussions in hope of shattering stereotypes of African people while addressing issues concerning the continent.
