I'm all for the cause, whether it's trying to be eco friendly or sticking it to the man. Unfortunately I'm also lazy and the "man" makes some really good burgers. Plus those Chinese children make amazing sneakers for some reason, I hear it has to do with their cute little malnourished fingers. Nowadays me getting involved consists of putting my shopping bags down long enough to sign a petition (yes, the person who made me register to vote had to hold my cig). So if you're anything like me, Blackspot is for you. The new shoe company is an open source label, a.k.a. it's the Napster of brand logos. Adbusters, who promotes it heavily in their mag, says Blackspot is a call to arms against the megacorporation and the branding of America. Blah blah save the word, why should you or me care about it? 'Cause apparently you can save the environment, unbrand America's youth, and still pump out a decent ass sneaker. Who knew?

Alongside Blackspot, is Unswoosher, another eco-chic footwear company that make their shoes from what all good little hippies are made of - organic hemp and recycled rubber. Sounds fugly right? Wrong. The sneakers are cool enough to make you wanna Chuck your Taylors (if you think that's corny, wait 'til you hear what the red spot is for) and the Unswoosher is getting hype from sneakerheads for pulling in famed Canadian shoe designer John Fluevog. Anyhow peep the shoes, buying one of these has the same green philospophy as those lame recycled bags the ladies at Wholefoods always sell. They're are sweatshop free, recycled, cooler-looking, and unlike those grocery bags, you can wear 'em on your feet and people won't think you're homeless.
